A free online test that places you at the right level on the ESLS pathway. No transcripts, no diplomas, no paperwork. Just questions.

Take the test on any device. Most people use their phone.

What this test does.

01

Places you, doesn't reject you.

Every level of the ESLS pathway has an entry point. The test finds yours — it doesn’t pass or fail you. You can start at any level the test recommends, or one below if you want a softer landing.

02

Skips the paperwork.

We don’t need transcripts, diplomas, or proof of prior education to enroll you. The placement test is the qualification.

03

Retake as often as you want.

Didn’t get the level you wanted? Study a bit, come back, take it again. Three months later, six months later, doesn’t matter.

What's on the test.

AREA 01

Reading and comprehension

Short passages followed by questions about meaning, inference, and detail. Tests your ability to take in written information at the level needed for higher education.

AREA 02

Practical numeracy and calculation

Percentages, ratios, basic arithmetic, simple algebra. Real-world problems framed around money, measurement, and business. No advanced math required.

AREA 03

Logical thinking and reasoning

Pattern recognition, sequence completion, simple deduction. Tests how you handle structured problems.

AREA 04

Business and money literacy

What is profit? What is interest? What does “cash flow” mean? Tests baseline familiarity with how businesses and money work.

AREA 05

Practical awareness and judgement

Scenarios drawn from work, study, and daily life. Tests how you weigh choices and make practical decisions.

60 minutes total · Random selection from a large question bank · Auto-graded · Available in English, Swahili, French, Spanish, and Arabic at launch.

How the test works.

01

Click “Start the test.”

No account required to begin. We’ll ask for an email at the end so we can send you your results.

02

Answer the questions.

Multiple choice. You can skip a question and return to it. You can pause the test for up to 24 hours and resume.

03

Get placed.

When you finish, we tell you which level on the pathway you should start at — and which entry point on the diagram you map to.

04

Decide what's next.

Enroll in your first course. Or take the test again later. Or talk to admissions about anything that surprised you.

Why we don’t need your transcripts.

Traditional admissions ask for documents that many capable learners don’t have — lost diplomas, schools that closed, qualifications that don’t translate across borders. We’ve seen people with the skills for higher education locked out by paperwork. So we built a different door.

The placement test measures what you can actually do right now. If you can handle the questions at a given level, you can handle the coursework at that level. Documents are a proxy. We use the real measure.

Questions people ask.

The test is available in English, Swahili, French, Spanish, and Arabic at launch. Take it in the language you’re most comfortable with. The English-language portion of the test starts being scored only if you indicate you want a Level 03 (CertHE) placement or above.

Yes. The test is mobile-first. Most people take it on their phone. You can pause and resume on a different device if you log in with the email you provided.

If you don’t finish in 60 minutes, you can resume the test for another sitting within 24 hours. Your previous answers are saved. If you can’t resume in 24 hours, you can retake the full test from scratch — there’s no penalty.

Talk to admissions. If you can show prior coursework or experience that the test didn’t capture, we’ll review your case. If you just feel the test under-placed you, retake it after a few weeks of study at the recommended level — most people who feel under-placed do better the second time.

It’s free. No catch. We need a working email at the end to send your results, and we’ll occasionally email you about ESLS programmes. You can unsubscribe at any time.

No. Take it for curiosity. Take it to see where you stand. Take it and never come back. There’s no obligation.
